The Octopus is a fish that can be found during Summer in the ocean and (more rarely) in Garbage Cans. It can randomly rotate into daily stock at the Traveling Cart for Gold.png450-1,000g during any season. It can also be caught in the deep-sea submarine ride at the Night Market (≈2% chance). The octopus is the only fishing rod fish that cannot be eaten unless it is cooked.

Strategy

This is one of the most difficult fish to catch in the game, even compared to Legendary Fish. To make it even more demanding, the odds of an octopus biting are very rare, and the window of time available to catch it is comparatively small. The most sure-fire tactic is maxing out your fishing skill, equip the Iridium Rod, eat a Seafoam Pudding, Dish o' The Sea, Lobster Bisque, or Fish Stew, and attach a Trap Bobber to your fishing pole. Using a combination of a maxed out fishing skill and the Iridium Rod is often insufficient.

Quests

History

  • 1.3: Added chance to catch during Night Market.
  • 1.4: Added iridium quality. Can now be used in Tailoring.
  • 1.4.4: Fixed a mistake in the game data that prevented octopus-specific fish pond data from being applied (in earlier versions, octopus used the same fish pond data as all generic ocean fish).
