Buffs in Backup Saves

I've done various tests in backup saves to confirm how buffs behave.

  • Fishing: confirmed increased casting distance in a backup save with fishing buffed to 8 (using +1 from Trout Soup).
  • Foraging: confirmed four berries per blackberry bush in a backup save with foraging buffed to 13 (base value for character was 9).
  • Mining and Farming: confirmed decreased tool cost. Used repeated backup saves to create a backup save with 16 Mining, 14 Farming, and (unbuffed) 10 Foraging, and energy at 6. Loaded save, confirmed energy level at 6 by chopping trees: exhaustion triggered on 7th axe chop. Reloaded save, used hoe: exhaustion triggered at 11th single-tile hoe usage (consistent with energy cost of 0.6). Reloaded save, used pickaxe: exhaustion triggered on 16th use (consistent with energy cost of 0.4)
  • Negative tool cost: Used repeated saves to get 22 Mining and energy at 6. Starting destroying stones. At first, each swing showed sweating animation. After 74 pickaxe swings, sweating animation stopped and energy bar visibly larger than at start, all consistent with +0.2 energy/swing (+14.8) taking energy level from 6 to 21. Used axe to chop trees (foraging=10): exhaustion after 22 axe swings.
  • Speed: Visually obvious after saving with +2 speed.
  • Magnetism. Filled player inventory with stuff then destroyed stones to leave uncollected stones strewn on ground. Removed all magnetism-related rings. Stood in a location with loose stones 1, 2, and 3 tiles away. Trashed some stuff in inventory to allow magnetism to collect the stones. Confirmed that at 0 Magnetism only stones 1 tile away were collected. Ate Miner's Treat (+32 Magnetism) and confirmed that stones 2 tiles away were collected. Repeated experiment, but ate Miner's Treat while inventory still full, then saved backup and reloaded. Only stones 1 tile away were collected.

Still trying to come up with an easy way to test Luck.... Nebulous Maestress (talk) 18:14, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
