Spring

Hello Meanturing, I'm sorry I've reverted your edits to the Spring page. It's simply waaaay too much information for the page, possibly for the wiki in general.

I would suggest placing the info on your user page, or creating a page called "User:Meanturing/NameOfPage" and putting the info there (substitute "NameOfPage" for whatever you would like to call it.)

Apologies, and thanks for your understanding. margotbean (talk) 21:10, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

Okay, will move to another page. - Kevin

Hi again, Kevin -- you misunderstood what I wrote earlier. This kind of analysis belongs in your user space, on a page prefixed with your username. The analysis of crop profits has been discussed at length over the last 3 years, and everyone has a favorite way of displaying it, all of them too complex for the wiki.
I'm going to move your page to User:Meanturing/CropProfit and you can work on it there, but I would suggest a spreadsheet shared on reddit as a better choice than the huge tables you're creating on the wiki. Best of luck, and thanks again, margotbean (talk) 21:42, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

Margotbean, I'm not sure I understand - I think this is a philosophical difference - why something would be too complex for the wiki. I don't see the harm in putting a big gross table or other specific technical information on a separate wiki page for those who may find it useful. I can understand not wanting to clog up or confuse a page for casual users, but a separate page can just be ignored and not visited.

I see that you're a moderator and that you're probably enforcing Stardew wiki standards, but I would urge revisement of this policy and encourage to have as much information as needed, similar to the policy of the big wikipedia. I'll stop putting together this table until further notice.

All the best, Kevin

Just wanted to help

Hi Meanturing,

I saw you were making some edits and had some questions about what the guidelines for editing are. You mentioned somewhere that you wanted to see guidelines for how to make edits, maybe what constitutes a minor edit or a major edit. I thought I'd link you to the editing page here: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Help:Editing - This will give you an idea of what to do if you feel one of your edits deserves to be in the page. One bit of purely friendly advice I'd cautiously offer up, is not to take it personally if a change doesn't stick immediately. Maybe hit up that particular topic's talk page and discuss what you want to change first, say your bits and let more folks comment on it. Because perhaps your change is good, and people will agree, or agree with minor changes, or come up with more ideas to make it even better or more succinct or whatever. Reading through some of your stuff I probably would have commented but instead of making comments in those topic's talk pages, you went to another user's talk page where it didn't feel appropriate that I comment. Point is, it's cool that the wiki is collaborative but you gotta let folks collaborate with yah. All the best - North NorthDakota (talk) 02:43, 22 February 2020 (UTC)
