Hello! I see that you are having trouble triggering the Winter Mystery quest -- may I ask what platform you are using (PC, Mobile, Switch)? I have tested with version 1.3.36 on PC, and only the bottom tile is troublesome, the 2nd from the bottom tile is the tile with the path on it, the darker-colored path. I had no problems triggering the quest from that tile. I await further details. Thank you, margotbean (talk) 09:58, 25 October 2019 (UTC)

I'm using Android and the main visible path tile doesn't work, hence my initial and long-standing bafflement, since that's the one naturally used when walking from the farm to the bus stop. I also tested each of the 4 tiles on the path, after someone suggested the tiles might be the problem behind triggering the quest, and only the top two work in Android. In either case, the top 2 tiles are safe regardless of platform, whereas the third tile isn't. MissSlaughter (talk) 12:25, 25 October 2019 (UTC)
I just did a little more testing with how the walking behaves in that transition from the farm map to the bus stop map. The two top tiles on the farm map both lead to the 2nd tile from the top of the path on the bus stop map, while the bottom two tiles on the farm map both lead to the 3rd tile from the top. Does this work the same on PC, or do the top 3 tiles on the farm path all lead to the same place on the bus stop map? MissSlaughter (talk) 12:31, 25 October 2019 (UTC)
On PC, the top 3 tiles on the farm lead to the 2nd from top tile on the bus stop map. The bottom tile on the farm leads to the 3rd from the top on the bus stop. Interesting... I'll let the dev. team know about this! Thanks for reporting, and providing more details! margotbean (talk) 14:06, 25 October 2019 (UTC)

Can you please provide a reference for the percentages listed on the carp page? Thank you, margotbean (talk) 12:40, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

Basically the bare bones for the calculations are mentioned and discussed at https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Fish_data, but I'm not sure what the format is for citing that. I'll figure it out later today.MissSlaughter (talk) 12:50, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
I can help with formatting the reference. I'm going to comment out that paragraph until there's a verifiable source for users to check. margotbean (talk) 12:56, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
The source is the files listed on the fish modding page. The fish modding page is far more extensive documentation for the spawning rates than there was for the claims on the page previously (which were in fact completely false and even blatantly contradicted in the listed files). Anyone with the time and interest can check the relevant files, work out the formulas, and do the computations. If that isn't sufficient, I can't imagine what sort of documentation would suffice for any wiki page.MissSlaughter (talk) 13:43, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
As an example, the Crops page calculates gold per day, and lists the calculation used, as well as an example. The Fertilizer page lists % chances of obtaining each quality of crop, and refers to the Farming page, where the complete formula is specified. If you want to refer to the talk page for Modding:Fish data, that's fine, but that page still doesn't spell out how you got from fish data to the percentages you listed. I know you've done the work, now just finish it off with a reference! It's valuable information, but it needs a source that can be verified. margotbean (talk) 14:16, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
I added a 3rd paragraph to https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Fish_data#Spawn_rate with the basic formula and procedure for using it, and updated the formula above it to show that it's the starting point for the newly added formula. Hopefully it makes sense :-P MissSlaughter (talk) 15:00, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
Also added some introductory explanation of the spawning process at the top of https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Fish_data#Spawn_rate (which bumps my above-mentioned addition down to being the 4th paragraph). MissSlaughter (talk) 15:25, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
Brilliant! I restored the paragraph on the Carp page, and added the reference. Thank you for your contribution, and for your persistence! The wiki is better for the additional information. margotbean (talk) 15:33, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for your help and guidance ... at first I thought I needed to "show my work" with all of the detailed calculations, and I got a little freaked out because it's too much content and too complicated :-P MissSlaughter (talk) 15:41, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
