I rolled back your changes to Template:Name because the template was no longer showing the name of the item. You're welcome to have another go at it, but please keep in mind that almost every page on the wiki uses the template. Make sure to hit that "Show preview" button!

Also, please don't remove the assumption that the image will be displayed in pixels. The images that use the template are displayed in standard sizes (i.e., 16x16px, 32x32px, etc.) There's no need to force the user to type in extra characters. There are so many pages that use the template, I can't even see if any of them are broken because of that change, but there may be some.

And, I have to mention it even though you probably are aware, but "margin: 0 auto" centers a table. If you really want one page (the Mines page) on the wiki to have centered tables while the other 1,000 have left-aligned tables, then I suppose that's your choice. Just make sure that's what you really want to do.

I appreciate your trying to make the wiki better! margotbean (talk) 02:15, 28 February 2017 (UTC)

  • The whole purpose was to get rid of the names of the items because it was too bulky when used in tables causing overflows on page width and causing tables to be way too long. If you mouse over the icon, not only is it linked to the page, but there should also be the name of what it is in a tooltip. I suppose I can add an extra parameter to hide the name or I could duplicate the template with the changes to a new template of Template:Named or something for use in tables.
I removed the assumption that image sizes should be pixels to give more flexibility for people who want the image to be in a different unit. I can make an adjustment to allow for the unit to be specified with px being the default. No problem.
Yes, I'm fully aware that margin: 0px auto; centers the table on the page. I've been working on centering many of them at a width of 95% where appropriate. I'm sure there will be a couple exceptions, but 95% centered tables look better IMHO.
I'm very familiar with MW based wikis - http://ddowiki.com/page/U:Technical_13 Technical 13 (talk) 03:05, 28 February 2017 (UTC)
