Proposed new layout

The table layout looked fine at first, but I think it's confusing and hard to read with the amount of info shown now — especially with the TOC disabled and beta/stable releases intermingled. Any objections to using the layout shown at [[User:Pathoschild/Version History]] instead? (I also added the last two releases to the proposed page, which aren't listed here yet.) If there are no objections, I'll take care of updating the other wikis with the same layout. —Pathoschild (talk) 22:29, 14 May 2017 (BST)

I think the new layout looks great!
One problem -- the page is linked to Template:History so you either have to add id=Versionx.xx back into the page for every major release or change the template so it links to the new subheadings instead of id's. (Any guess as to which option I'd choose? lol)
You'd have to alter the template in every language as well. Some of them have translated "id=Versionx.xx" to their language and some haven't. Some have translated Template:History and some haven't. It might be a mess out there... wear sturdy boots.
Also, if it were me, I'd float the TOC on the right side. (check the Crops page for an example -- there's some standard margin-left and bottom we use, or some such). But, that's your choice.
Any plans to change the Console Version History page in the same way? (hint hint) :D margotbean (talk) 23:06, 14 May 2017 (BST)
The right-aligned TOC makes sense, though I'd rather create a template than reuse inline styles. I'll change Console Version History too once I'm done with this one. So to recap, here's what I'll do on all wikis:
  1. wear sturdy boots;
  2. create Template:TOC right;
  3. apply the template to Crops;
  4. update Version History with the new layout;
  5. update Template:History.

Template:Tocright is sitting in the Unused templates bin. Feel free to use it, change it, or mark it for deletion and create a new template with different capitalization in the name.
There's quite a few more pages than just Crops that use inline styling for the TOC, btw... I mean on the English wiki. No idea what's going on in the other 6 languages... Some may have implemented Template:Tocright already. I hope you have some free time to go with those boots.  :P margotbean (talk) 04:30, 15 May 2017 (BST)
Steps 1–3 done on all wikis, and I also replaced inline right-TOCs with the template on all wikis. —Pathoschild (talk) 06:29, 15 May 2017 (BST)
Steps 4–5 done for the English, German, Japanese, and Spanish wikis. I'll take care of the remaining wikis tomorrow. :) —Pathoschild (talk) 07:24, 15 May 2017 (BST)
Steps 4–5 done for the Chinese, Portuguese, and Russian wikis. All done! —Pathoschild (talk) 00:38, 16 May 2017 (BST)

Hat descriptions

A reddit user asked about the functionality stated for v1.2.31:

  • Hat descriptions now say which achievement they're for.

This wasn't a feature in v1.2.33, and isn't a feature in the current version (1.3.23). I've commented out that line on the page, until I can find the source, and figure out what it was referring to. Was it functionality that existed in v1.2.31 and got removed (unlikely) or did it refer to underlying data files? I don't know, and am not really sure where to look for the answer. I don't have a version of v1.2.31 on my machine, and shudder at the thought of searching the forums for "hat" or "achievement". margotbean (talk) 17:12, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

Grass Starter Recipe

There's a grass starter recipe sold by Pierre now

Is this a 1.4 change? It's not listed in any change log I can find, but it's definitely fairly new. Bladeoflight16 (talk) 02:31, 28 November 2019

It's new in 1.4, I've added it to the change notes, thanks! margotbean (talk) 15:59, 28 November 2019 (UTC)
