I just added a section on planting the trees because it was missing. Feel free to edit this text, but it needs to be on this page.
Without fertilizer, seedlings have a 20% chance each night of growing to the next stage, except at stage 4, where seedlings spend twice as long. The median growth time from seed to maturity is 24 days, although individual tree growth times will vary considerably. Statistically, 90% of seeds should reach maturity in 38 days (excluding winter), and 99% in 55 days.
===Planting===
To plant a tree a seed can be placed in soil on the farm. In order to grow to full height trees need the 8 spaces around them to be empty. Trees will only become a sapling otherwise. So saplings can be placed as close as you want but full grown trees need more space.
