as of 1.5, most furniture can be placed outside (tried to clarify categories where it cannot, e.g. rugs and fish tanks). also players can now sit on chairs/benches/etc
After the first [[Farmhouse]] upgrade, [[Robin]] also offers the [[Furniture Catalogue]] for sale at the [[Carpenter's Shop]]. Once placed, "using" the furniture catalogue allows you to purchase furniture items for {{price|0}} in unlimited quantity.
Right-clicking on some furniture while selected will rotate it. Other furniture will be placed by right-clicking while selected. Some furniture can be easily picked up and moved by left-clicking; other furniture requires the player to use a [[Tools|tool]] or to hold left-click to remove it once it is placed.On the Nintendo Switch use the A button to rotate furniture. Players can sit in [[Furniture#Chairs|chairs]], [[Furniture#Benches|benches]], [[Furniture#Couches & Armchairs|couches]], and [[Furniture#Couches & Armchairs|armchairs]].
Furniture cannot be sold through the [[Shipping|Shipping Bin]] or to any merchant/shop in Stardew Valley.
The [[Fruit Salad Rug]], and [[Pirate Rug]] are available only through [[Penny]]'s 14-Heart event.
Rugs cannot be placed outside.
