It is used mainly for breaking [[stones]] and [[furniture]] items (including [[Crafting#Decorative|floors]] and [[sprinklers]]). With each upgrade level, the number of hits required are reduced and bigger [[stones]] may become breakable.
Using the pickaxe on an enemy will deal a small portion of damage to the monster, similarly to swing action [[tools]].
