Tilling a square that contains an object such as a [[Torch]], [[Sprinklers|Sprinkler]], or [[Scarecrow]] will remove the item. However, the Hoe cannot till squares with crafted [[Crafting#Decor|floors or paths]] on them. Placing a crafted floor or path underneath an item will allow for tilling without displacing the item.
