change wording to accommodate the unique nature of the night market
Festivals are special events in Stardew Valley. Each season has two festivals. Mayor Lewis will send you a letter in advance of each festival, describing when and where it will take place. Attending festivals is optional. On the day of the festival, a pop-up on left-hand side of the screen will let you know when the festival has begun. Time does not pass during a festival, so feel free If you choose to take your time exploring and talking! When attend a festival ends(other than the Night Market), upon leaving you will be returned to The Farm late at night.
If it is a festival day, animals do not need to be fed; the game will automatically consider them fed.
Attendance at the festivals is entirely optional. Attendance (just by itself) also and has no effect on friendship with the villagers (though there may be information benefits). Speaking to them there at festivals (other than the Night Market) does not increase friendship points, nor does failing to attend decrease them. However, some Some festivals (like the Luau) do have activities where participation can affect friendship.
Shop Closures
:Main article: Shop Schedules
All buildings and homes in Stardew Valley are "locked" on all festival days where the festival begins before 7pm (i.e., all festivals other than Spirit's Eve and Dance of the Moonlight Jellies). The Sewers, Community Center, and Spa will remain open. The exception to this rule is the Night Market, where homes and shops are open, and time continues to pass during the festival.
If you do not attend a festival, certain homes and shops may be unlocked after the time for entering the festival is past (normally 2pm or 3pm).
A central feature of the Luau is the potluck soup. Villagers bring different ingredients to prepare this soup for the Governor, who tastes and judges it. The soup-tasting begins by talking to Mayor Lewis.
Depending upon what type of produce you supply for the soup, there will be different reactions from the Governor and Mayor Lewis. The outcome will may increase or reduce friendship points with all villagers.
The Luau ends automatically after the Governor tastes the soup.
The Night Market takes place during Winter 15-17, on the beach. The festival features shops, a mermaid show, and a deep-sea fishing submarine where you can catch unique fish.
Unlike other festivals, shops and homes throughout Stardew Valley are not closed on the days of the Night Market, and time continues to pass during the festival. You can also gain friendship points with villagers by talking to them during the Night Market, and give gifts that raise friendship.
