'''Hats''' are cosmetic [[clothing]] items that alter the appearance of the [[player ]] but otherwise have no effect. Hats can also be placed on [[Animals#Horse|horses]] (and replaced with different hats) but there is no way to remove a hat from a horse once placed. Additionally, hats can be placed on the player's [[children]].
The day after players earn their first [[Achievements|Achievement]] , they will receive a letter from the mouse in the [[Abandoned House]], alerting them that hats can now be purchased there. Most [[Achievements]] unlock a new hat, which can be purchased for {{price|1000}}.
A few hats can only be obtained at certain festivals, the [[casino]], the [[Adventurer's Guild]], or in treasure rooms in the [[Skull Cavern]].
Hats can also be crafted at the Sewing Machine [[sewing machine]] in [[Emily]]'s House.
Hats cannot be sold through the [[Shipping|Shipping Box]], to the [[Abandoned House|Hat Mouse]], or to any store/shop in the game.
