Intro

Hello! I'm Kez and I'm here to put a bunch of dialogue on all the pages so no one else has to toil through unpacking XNB files in order to research for fanfiction they may or may not be too lazy to ever actually write.

I'm also here on this user page to promote Maru/Abigail, the greatest ship you've never heard of. They're the best girls and they should kiss.

A Note About Quote Formatting

I'm kinda new to this and there wasn't really any consistent formatting for the quotes sections aside from mostly being in collapsible menus and being split into "Regular" and "After Marriage". From other talk pages it seems no one has really sorted this out yet? I've added a separate section for Events, and tried to organize everything in a way that's logical and easy to read. Failing that, at least I'm consistent with myself.

I'm still in the process of organizing After Marriage sections (which are in general full of content, but not organized and often containing general quotes not specific to that spouse). I'm also constantly going back and reorganizing quotes I edited earlier to be consistent with whatever format I decided later was a better way of doing things.

Below is how I'm doing it. Please contact me on my talk page if you have questions or suggestions or if I'm gaffing this whole wiki thing up.

The Rules That I Made Up

  • I grab everything from the dialogue files from the games folder, so I know when, where, and why it occurs.
  • First meeting at the top.
  • The priority is chronological order, so spring quotes to winter quotes, 0 hearts to 10 hearts, as close as I can get it.
  • Everything under 'Regular' is technically a Spring quote I believe? But I don't tend to specify this unless they actually make reference to something seasonal. All the other seasonal quotes are actually marked in the coding as their seasons, but spring isn't, likely since it's the first season so they're written to be more general character introductions.
  • Every quote is technically assigned to a weekday, but I don't mention it unless it actually matters (e.g. Maru complaining about not wanting to go to work tomorrow, or Abigail saying the weekend is over). There are already far too many subheadings.
  • Lots of quotes are assigned a minimum heart level, but I don't note it unless it's 6+, 8+, or 10+. 6 hearts is when people start saying stuff that feels very 'close friend', offering backstory and to make you food or hang out, etc, and by 8+ they're getting hella flirty. Anything below that feels generic enough. Again with the too many subheadings.
  • If possible, put 'If male/female' variations at the bottom of a section so as to not confuse subheadings. Ideally the differences are restrained to a single word in a sentence so you don't have to make a whole nother quote line for each variant but sometimes we don't get what we want, do we, Alex Mullner?

The Rules I Haven't Sorted Out

  • Should generic marriage quotes be kept on individual characters pages? I don't know. Probably not? I mostly remove them. But people will probably add them anyway, since not everyone likes to dig through yaml files for hours on end to find the exact conditions under which any given statement is said.
  • If someone else put a quote on the page, I'm not gonna remove it, even if I can't see where it came from. I trust the person who added it got it from somewhere. Dialogue is spread out across multiple files in multiple places and I haven't found it all. Where is the pregnancy related dialogue stored? Only Yoba knows that.
