Tackle can be removed, oh my, this page should have said that long ago...
You must have an [[Iridium Rod]] to equip tackle. An Iridium Rod allows both tackle and [[bait]] to be used simultaneously.
To attach bait or tackle to an Iridium Rod, open your inventory screen, click on the tackle or bait (left-click or right-click, depending on how many you want to pick up), and then right-click on the rod. To remove bait, right-click on the rod. To remove tackle, first remove bait then right-click on the rod to remove the tackle.
Tackles have a durability-bar, which decreases on use. They wear out after 20 uses and disappear. Tackle cannot be removed; they continue to be used until worn out. Then they can be replaced.
