To Do

I've taken it upon myself to improve the article, and I welcome others' help! Here's my small to do list: 1) correlate the image files to the shirt names. Usually this is easy because whoever wrote the names did so in numerical order, and the name/ingredients also often make it obvious that the image is correct, but sometimes there's an image file that doesn't have a name already in the table, nor do the images always correspond to the ingredients when entered in numerical order (particularly among all the generically titled "shirts", it becomes clear that the images aren't always related to the ingredients, e.g. the corresponding colors look offset by a row, which raises my suspicions); 2) provide descriptions of shirts, pants, hats; 3) continue applying the name template to the ingredients; 4) provide images of the pants; 5) general fact-checking on dyeability, ingredients, etc; 6) expand the overview/introductory paragraphs. --Yalensky (talk) 17:33, 28 November 2019 (UTC)

Any additions you can provide will be helpful! The shirt images are numbered as they are in the sprite sheet. Some have different male/female variants, and some are unavailable. In general, shirts chosen at character creation are numbered starting at 1 (whereas the sprite sheet starts numbering at 0). Good luck! margotbean (talk) 17:37, 28 November 2019 (UTC)
Gender variations
  • Plain Shirt = 038 male / 041 female
  • Tank Top = 129 male / 130 female
  • Crop Tank Top = 132 male / 133 female
  • 80's Shirt = 152 male / 136 female
  • Basic Pullover = 176 male / 177 female
  • Classy Top = 201 male / 202 female
The numbers above should match the shirt image numbers. Also, shirt 173 (Neat Bow Shirt) is unavailable. This refers to the one with the yellow tie, not the one of the same name with the red tie. The Red Buttoned vest is also unavailable. The Magic Sprinkle shirt and the Polka Dot shirt both use the same sprite (should be shirt272). margotbean (talk) 20:01, 28 November 2019 (UTC)
Thank you! That clears up a lot. God, did 136 confuse me.--Yalensky (talk) 20:07, 28 November 2019 (UTC)

Misinformation about Prismatic Pants

Hello, I am not sure if I am doing this correctly, as it's my first time.

I noticed that for pants, next to Prismatic shard it showed FALSE, however I believe that is incorrect as I was able to successfully make pants using that item last night.

It requires 1 cloth and 1 Prismatic Shard. The result is color-changing pants. When you go to the spa, your swimsuit will also color-change like the pants.

I have links, but it said I can't post them. If you need them for proof I also posted on the official forums.

Maybe there's a low success rate and I just got lucky? Anyway, just wanted to share this with those of you that maintain the wiki so you can change the table :)

I answered you on the official forum but gonna answer here too: "FALSE" on the Stardew Valley wiki is in the "Dyeable" column, it's not about whether you can make it. Fantixuu (talk) 16:28, 03 December 2019 (UTC)

Shirts 118-121

When I started editing this page the big shirt table already had the name and ingredient columns filled out. All I did was add the images, and others have done a lot of work on the shirt descriptions. In the image files uploaded to this wiki I noticed shirts 118-121 were not provided for in the preexisting table, so I added rows for those images. Does anybody know if they have names or ingredients? Is there a reason the table's original creator didn't provide them with rows? Are they somehow different than other shirts? I don't have access to the game code, perhaps there's an answer there. Yalensky (talk) 01:38, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi Yalensky -- I created the initial table and images. The underlying data file skips those id numbers, and I don't know why. I can only assume they are dyed versions of shirt141 the Crop Top shirt, since they are the same image, with color variations. But I haven't had time to play the game, so I haven't tested. What color is the Crop Top shirt initially? Is it white or purple (like Amaranth)? Testing that out will help decide how to handle the images. If they are only dyed versions of the main shirt, and they can't be created by themselves, they can be left off the page. margotbean (talk) 17:17, 4 December 2019 (UTC)
Given recent edits questioning whether these shirts can be obtained, I wanted to confirm that I just happened to see shirt 120 available for purchase at the Oasis. Nebulous Maestress (talk) 15:32, 14 August 2020 (UTC)

Selling?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew where to sell extra clothes (shirts/pants mainly), I havent found a place yet and did not see information about this on the "tailoring" page yet. I've been testing around and haven't found it yet (though I have only begun not long ago) and would love some input! Thank you!--Incoexists (talk) 01:27, 7 December 2019 (UTC)

Well, I have finally found the answer to your question, and it is that nothing (except boots and shoes) can be sold anywhere. I've added the info to the page.
I think the developers intended clothing items to be a fun thing to trade or gift in multiplayer, but not a source of income. I think unwanted shirts and pants can be trashed, but you're stuck with hats forever. margotbean (talk) 18:49, 26 January 2020 (UTC)

Sewing Machine

Should the tailoring sections of applicable pages be changed to link to the Sewing Machine page since Emily's sewing machine is no longer the only option? Or maybe a more generalized page for the sewing interface, and then Emily's house and the new sewing machine block can be mentioned. Rain (talk) 14:54, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

That's a lot of changes you're proposing. It would be a lot less work to add a "see also" to 2 Willow Lane (or some other mention) than to change every page that has a link to tailoring. In addition, access to Emily's sewing machine is a prerequisite for obtaining the new portable sewing machine, so tailoring has to happen at Emily's house first. margotbean (talk) 17:36, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
