Article Name

May I point out that there are multiple garbage cans located throughout town, but that there is only one trash can, associated with the player's inventory? (Even in multiplayer, each player upgrades and manages only one, right?) Therefore I would suggest that the disambiguation page be renamed to "Trash Cans" and the "Trash Cans" article be renamed to "Trash Can" (name swap). I would also suggest that keeping article names singular in number is generally preferable, as it makes lookup and search more predictable; so I'd keep "Garbage Can" as it is. A disambiguation page with plural name is not hampering, as its purpose is to redirect the searcher. Butterbur (talk) 19:40, 29 November 2019 (UTC)

I know that this might not be the best time for consideration of what I have laid out here, which is fine. But I do want to make a fuller case for its consideration at some time.
  • Auto completion of search text is no help in avoiding confusions. If both titles exist in the namespace, both will appear in the completion list, and neither will be suggestive to the searcher because of inconsistency in use of singulars and plurals.
  • Today, there are 1,220 articles on this wiki. The size and complexity in the article namespace is already sufficient to make careful overall organization useful at least, essential in my opinion. It already exceeds the effective limit of casual human abilities. To grasp it in full takes time and effort beyond what most of its users will want to devote to that. So if average seek time goes up, user patience goes down.
  • The single most direct passage to info lies in the article name space. Managing it has its difficulties. Look at the protocols and policies on Wikipedia to appreciate how complex it can get. But the difficulties have been managed and organized for ages. Look at other encyclopedias. Look at processes and techniques practiced by librarians and archivists. One need not acquire more than a smattering of that knowledge to have enough to work with on this wiki's scale. But you don't need to (and shouldn't) reinvent what is already known.
  • I do believe that this larger matter is something that needs the attention and agreement of the team of administrators and major contributors, among whom I do not number myself. While I have some abilities and knowledge that could help, I regret to say that I also have limiting factors in my life that I cannot make a commitment to contribute to such a large-scale task. To draw attention to the issue here is what I can offer. I hope that those of you who spend so much time and effort to creating and maintaining this wiki will find it helpful. To all of you, I give you thanks for that time and work. It has benefited me throughout the time I have been playing this game. Butterbur (talk) 06:16, 30 November 2019 (UTC)

Strongly support. I would be willing to do some of this work. Tom Haws (talk) 06:02, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

Do skills/professions increase the amount of gold obtained when trashing items?

For example, if I have Gemologist and trash a Ruby into my Iridium Trash Can, how is my reclaimed gold amount calculated? --pooiyx (talk) 02:32, 24 July 2020 (UTC)

Note I haven't tested ingame. It does appear to take into account professions. Note that the best profession of any online farmer is used. BlaDe (talk) 04:28, 24 July 2020 (UTC)
