In addition to tidying up Carp and Catfish errors and omissions, I've removed the crab pot items from the Ocean, because it's really just duplicating the work of the crab pot section that is already there. The freshwater crab pot items are available in Lake, River, Pond, Desert, basically everywhere else.... They aren't listed in any of them, and doing so would make it look exceptionally messy. Removing the Ocean ones tidies it up even more IMO One More Day (talk) 23:37, 14 September 2018 (BST)

I agree with removing redundancy, but I've replaced the fish that can be found on the beach by foraging, without a crab pot. margotbean (talk) 16:43, 15 September 2018 (BST)
But those item pages display the Foraging Navbox to cover that source. I think it makes more sense to just have fishing-related sources in the Fish Navbox. Also, I think the Navbox works/looks better if it’s compressed by putting all the oddball fish into a single Other section — making the Navbox some 25% smaller. I agree, it looks better more compact. But in 11 other languages, the categories are split. So, I'm rolling back the changes unless and until the other 11 languages can be brought into sync with the English wiki. margotbean (talk) 15:37, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
If the only issue with my edit is that it hasn’t been synced with other languages, why not leave it in place and just request that I propagate it? Reverting an indicates that it is fundamentally wrong. I’m then forced to figure out whether it’s acceptable for me to revert a moderator’s decision, or whether I might be triggering an edit war — which in turn means I have to make another long talk page post to explain my justifications and convince you that I’m not edit warring. It all feels antagonistic, instead of collaborative.
Furthermore, you’re effectively saying that if I want to change a Navbox, I’m expected to immediately make the same edit in every language, without waiting for any feedback. Even now, it seems unnecessarily rushed for me to propagate the edit to other wikis — the updated Navbox had probably only been visible on all wiki articles for a couple days, in the middle of the week, so how many contributors had even seen it? Yet the only way for me to solicit more feedback is to now make the edit to twelve pages?
But if that’s the preferred process, so be it. Please let me know if I’ve misunderstood your feedback. Otherwise, I’m assuming I’m supposed to revert your edit and copy this change to all the other wikis. Nebulous Maestress (talk) 20:20, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
You are correct in thinking that changes made to templates should be propagaged to all languages, yes, totally, completely, I can't emphasize that enough. I believe you're mistaken, though, in thinking that making changes is a request for feedback. Making a comment on a talk page or creating a sandbox page is a request for feedback, but changing a template is a commitment, a change already made, which assumes feedback is either not necessary or has already been received.
My personal preference is that the navbox stay as it is, and the major changes made to infobox templates be propagaged to other languages first and foremost, before v1.5 is released. At that point, changes to this navbox can be revisited and evaluated, preferably on this talk page. Thanks, margotbean (talk) 21:01, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
While you're at it, Clams aren't Fish so they shouldn't strictly be listed.Slimer (talk) 01:30, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
Clams may not be fish, but I think they should stay on the navbox. The purpose of the navbox is to help readers navigate the site. Even readers who know clams aren’t fish will probably find it useful to browse from one crab pot item to another via the navbox. Plus readers who aren’t aware of / don’t care about the finer distinctions of categories will expect to see clams somewhere in the navbox. Nebulous Maestress (talk) 16:12, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
