For the Roe page but could be used as a basis for elsewhere. Most Roe's seem to be one of 9 different colours so I'm adding the different colours of roe and aged roe. What do we think of this layout. It's not technically relevant to have the fishpond production but seems useful. I'm not intending having any fish that does not produce roe except possibly squid. margotbean? I'm mainly confused. I thought you were creating an addition to the Preserves Jar Productivity page, but this is a simple list of roe sell prices.
In my opinion, similar to how we don't list the sell price of all jellies and pickles on the jellies and pickles page, we don't need a list of all roe prices on the roe page. The equation suffices.
As an addition to the Preserves Jar Productivity page, it's incomplete, and the headings are wrong. So, I'm simply confused.
If the purpose is to show all the colors of fish roe, then the images need some work; they should match the existing roe and sturgeon roe images in proportion. Using "nearest neighbor" instead of bicubic or other choices when resizing an image can preserve the proportions and the integrity of pixel art. The images should also be about 500 bytes each, not 12KB.
So, to sum up, I appreciate the enthusiasm and the desire to improve the wiki. But I'm confused by the purpose of this particular mockup. margotbean (talk) 14:43, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
Okay, so I'll change this to be for a mockup for the Preserves Jar Productivity but I'm frustrated about the images - since you told me they were not readily extracted from the sprites, I took screenshots and edited out the background. I could trivially resize the files (not that this seems needed) if desired but there is no easy way to provide the same white space/gap as in the sprite itself. This is why I uploaded a new image for Sturgeon and standard Roe but you reverted the changes. Ultimately since we don't superimpose sprites themselves the exact positioning is unimportant and indeed it would be better to just have the roe cropped to show at maximum size. I think this is a useful project but I don't see a way to do it without having the images without a gap around them. Numberland (talk) 03:54, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
Redid mockup for no profession and Jar page Numberland (talk) 06:01, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
I think it's a useful project as well! If you'll recall, in our original conversation I said I would be fine with pink roe for all fish except Sturgeon. I'm fine with different sizes as well, the most important thing is the data. But I checked every image program I could (Paint.net, GIMP, and Photoshop), and all of them allow you to change the whitespace around the image with Image > Canvas size. This allows you to add whitespace around the image, which can then be resized. All 3 programs also allow you to save a .png with 8-bit depth, which is what will decrease the file size without reducing quality. margotbean (talk) 16:52, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
Okay, there is a potential advantage to having the smaller file size (smaller loading times) so I can save these as smaller. And yes, I could technically work out what the gap around a roe is and then for each file (there's ~20) resize the canvas size and then reposition the image within the whitespace to allow it to appear as it does within a box in inventory. However, that latter one is a lot of work and I don't see why I can't just trim the Sturgeon file like I did but you reverted so that they all appear the same size - and actually they look better anyway because they won't look randomly off-centre. Numberland (talk) 17:40, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
Okay, so it's not that it's not stored as 8-bit (all of the are) it's whether it's indexed or RGB and I can't get GIMP to export indexed to png so I've given up on achieving that tiny a file size. I have however rescaled, and cleaned up the images to be 36x36px, reducing size to half what it was. TBH 6KB is really small anyway. I think my images look better than the Sturgeon one, cleaner and better fitting, so since there is no particular reason that I can see to keeping the whitespace around the Sturgeon one, do you object if I reupload a cropped Sturgeon one and go ahead. @margotbean Numberland (talk) 20:28, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
I object on the grounds that the image is used in 12 languages, and matches what's in the sprite sheet. Sorry. margotbean (talk) 20:38, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
Okay, since it seems to just be centred on the canvas I've changed the other two images. Any other comments before I get on with it? Why on earn it's suddenly 2KB I HAVE NO IDEA! Numberland (talk) 22:08, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
Oh please, do get on with it!!  ;) margotbean (talk) 23:12, 31 December 2019 (UTC)

Ordering

I'm tempted to order by the same order as on the fish page, what do people think Numberland (talk) 09:30, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
