This page could use some more info. How fast do they gather them, one at a time or does a set number come out? What quality are the crops? Would it be better if the player themselves harvested them?--Enkidu (talk) 22:11, 28 October 2016 (BST)

As someone who has them:

- The Junimos come out one at a time, three per hut, the moment you wake up - if there are any crops to harvest and it's not raining. Otherwise, if it's raining or there are no crops, they don't come out. Though you can see their hut doors light up at night.

- Each Junimo gathers one crop at a time at a rather slow rate. You can see it in the video I submitted for a bug report over here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVKoVyzLiWE

- As you can see, their pathing needs some work - I've also had them get stuck in other narrow spaces and on scarecrows.

- You can walk over / through Junimos but can't do anything to a tile they're standing on. Bit bothersome when you're trying to plant something and they're hanging around - they don't go back to the hut immediately after harvesting, unsure if that's intentional or not. If you walk on them, though, they'll move.

- Crop quality seems to be the same as if you'd gathered them yourself.

- Overall, assuming you have a small garden, it's faster to harvest your crops yourself - however, if you have a ton of crops and/or you want to do something other than harvest crops with your time, having Junimos will save you time. I just have them because Junimos are my adorable apple children and I love them very much. NinethLions (talk) 13:09, 1 November 2016 (GMT)

Ahaha, that's cute... Good to know. I'm close to obtaining a Junimo Hut myself so after that I'll do some further testing and then add some of this info into the article, unless you or someone else wants to do so first of course.--Enkidu (talk) 15:14, 1 November 2016 (GMT)

- I suppose they don't gather foraged goods? I planted some Fall seeds and they haven't come out for them.--Enkidu (talk) 02:07, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

I can confirm that they do not gather winter or spring forage crops. I would like to find the game code that supports this before I change the web page, though Margotbean (talk) 08:30, 18 November 2016 (UTC)margotbean
Confirmed in Crops.cs -- Junimos won't harvest forage crops (hard-coded as row #23 in the sprite sheet). I've updated the page.Margotbean (talk) 23:42, 20 November 2016 (UTC)margotbean

page sections

Maybe a bit nitpicky but I feel like the harvesting section and the crop section could be combined? Not sure if I'm able to make this edit myself though Kaori kins (talk) 12:58, 4 August 2019 (UTC)

I think they really are about 2 different topics, so deserve 2 different headings. margotbean (talk) 17:16, 4 August 2019 (UTC)

Junimo Colours

As of version 1.4, putting different minerals into the Junimo Hut changes the colours of the junimos. I looked through the Junimo, Junimo Hut, and Secret Note pages but could not find a comprehensive list of what junimo colours correspond to what minerals. I feel as though this is a common thing that people will look for after reading Secret Note #24.

It seems as though someone has now compiled that data. (I would link the graphic, but the filter auto-flagged this post as spam when I tried to.)

Would it be appropriate to add this information to this page, either by linking the graphic or re-writing it into tabular form? If spoilers are a concern, we could hide it under a read more.

viridiansky (talk) 08:49, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

Yes, I think it would be appropriate info to add to the page in a collapsable spoiler section of some sort. The discord guide is missing Jasper, and doesn't really match the wiki's format, so I don't think it would be appropriate to import or link to the image located there. Unfortunately, that means a lot more work for someone.  :D margotbean (talk) 15:38, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
Update -- I did a little digging in the code, and discovered that the game uses the same code to color junimos as it does to dye clothes. So, I can provide a link to the dye colors table on the Dyeing page, which already includes all minerals. margotbean (talk) 16:28, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
Are you sure that the junimo colour code is exactly the same as the dyeing code? It seems as though there's a lot more variation for junimos even with the basic gemstones. Now that I look at it closely, it seems as though the Dyeing table is missing all of the "white", "gray", and "black" minerals. Additionally, minerals like Star Shards are listed under red on that page, but produce pink junimos.
I just tested jasper and unsurprisingly it produces red junimos. If you'd think it'd be appropriate, I'd be happy to do the work to convert the Discord information + jasper info into a table like the Dyeing table but with more colours. Viridiansky (talk) 19:00, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
Oh wait, I completely missed the second table. My bad, that table is perfect. I feel it still may be worth it to extract only the gemstone and mineral information into a new table on this page though, considering how large the dyeing table is. I don't know the wiki's guidelines on duplicating data though. Viridiansky (talk) 19:08, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
I've specified that the colors correspond to the Sewing Machine, not the dye pots (thanks for pointing out that could be confusing!) I generally like to use transclusion if data is going to appear on more than one page. That involves adding section tags to each line of the original table. Alternatively, we could copy/paste just the relevant rows in this case, since only 2 pages are involved, and the values are unlikely to change (famous last words). A third possibility is to add a column to the dyeing table, something specifying "Mineral - true/false" so that the table could be sorted with only minerals at the top. A 4th option is to decide that the Secret Notes page is already long enough, and the link to the Dyeing page is enough. I dunno.  :) margotbean (talk) 22:52, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
I read up on transclusion - if I'm reading this correctly, each mineral row would need to be enclosed by an onlyinclude tag with a unique transcludesection identifier, then each of these sections would need to be inserted row by row in the new table? Probably better to do that than copy-pasting, since it's only 2 pages :p I wouldn't mind doing that grunt work.
However, I agree that the Secret Notes page is already pretty long - I was imagining a dedicated table on this page. If we want to keep it vague for spoilers, something like a Secret Ability section with a visible blurb taken from the current trivia note, then a hidden section marked as spoilers that includes the details (such as the comprehensive table.) Viridiansky (talk) 04:30, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
In this case I think copy/pasting would be better, since we don't need to transclude the last column (the one that shows dye strength). I've played around with this, making the entire section collapsed, then adding a collapsable table of colors, and it's a lot of work. The collapsable table within a collapsed element doesn't want to collapse unless I abandon mediawiki syntax and use html tags.
I'm strongly leaning towards option 4 (that a link to the table on the Dyeing page is enough) because of the difficulty involved, the fact that the page exists in 11 other languages, and the fact that the reddit post got only 66 upvotes and 7 comments. Kudos to you for looking up transclusion, though! margotbean (talk) 18:05, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

Farming Skill

Does anyone know if the quality of harvested crops is affected by the players farming skill? Thermophile (talk) 15:54, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

Yes it is, I've added that to the page. Thanks! margotbean (talk) 16:54, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
