How do you talk to the Wizard and Linus during the festival?

The page describes: 'He says "The affairs of mundane folk matter little to me, but the elementals like a chance to see you up close. It was for them that I created this silly maze.'. However, during the festival, the player can only see he and Linus standing on the cliff and they seem to be unreachable. How can the player actually talk to them? Also such words from the Wizard seem a bit strange since the player is just another normal person out there in the village, not some world savior or something, which is quite against the spirit of the game.

I don't know, that dialogue seems in line with everything else he says. That dialogue can be found in the data, from the same file all the rest of the dialogue is from. Same can be done for Linus's dialogue. I was unable to figure out how to reach him organically though. Similar situation during the Fishing event, he's standing outside his tower but no way of reaching him as far as I know, and when you talk to him he says something like its interesting that instead of participating with the other mundanes you went out of your way to go to his tower. I was hoping someone else would have figured out some way by now. -- Kapra (talk) 16:52, 25 March 2016 (EDT)

What is Linus' hidden dialog for this? XaqNautilus (talk) 10:18, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

"Good show, old friend." For those on PC, this can be found in Data\Festivals\Fall27.xnb margotbean (talk) 16:44, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. XaqNautilus (talk) 23:08, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
You're welcome! margotbean (talk) 19:52, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

Thanks. But this still doesn't tell how to get this dialogue to come up in the game. I assume that "found in the data" (above) means it's in a source code file. But has something changed in the two years since? If you can't talk to them in game play, doesn't that really mean that the dialog has effectively been edited out of the game? The source files are no indicator. If the code doesn't run, it's not in the game. Butterbur (talk) 19:34, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

As the page says, you can't reach the Wizard or Linus, so the dialogue can't trigger in-game. When you are in the maze, however, you can see a transparent dialogue bubble over one (or both) of their heads. The dialogue is just out of reach. margotbean (talk) 19:52, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Aha, thanks! I haven't noticed that before. Butterbur (talk) 01:48, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

Version 1.3 Beta - Golden Pumpkin

Would it be worthwhile adding a section towards the bottom of the page under a drop down talking about the changes in the beta with the Golden Pumpkin being a universally loved gift? I believe the info is already on the golden pumpkin page but more people will read about it on this page. I also don't know how to add something like that so if it is a good idea, could someone else add it?

Confirmed and corrected. Thanks! margotbean (talk) 18:14, 21 September 2019 (UTC)

addition to the torch bug

i carried a torch to the festival and realized that everytime you go to talk to an npc the usual speech bubble cursor is replaced with the gift cursor, as if you were still holding a torch. it also still appears after you talk to them once, but you can't click on them again. i'm not sure if this is worth mentioning, but it wasn't on the page. also, it seems to only appear for people you can gift.
