Iridium Bats

As far as I can tell, in 1.14.3, Iridium Bats do not count towards the 200 bats for the Monster Eradication Goal. Voxhumana (talk) 12:37, 27 December 2019 (UTC)

Yep, this is a bug I thought I noticed in v1.4.0. It's on my to do list to test if it still exists in 1.4.3 and also existed in v1.3. My to do list is a mountain, though. margotbean (talk) 13:52, 27 December 2019 (UTC)

Drop Rates

The way Iridium bats drop ore is a little confusing. It's very ambiguous what the table means and several people discussing it today had 3 different interpretations. Since it appears the actual way it works is to roll for iridium ore 4 separate times, I think some clarifying text might be useful as a footnote?

"Each item listed as a drop makes a separate roll. When an item is listed multiple times, that represents multiple chances - these rolls are completely independent of each other. For example, Iridium Bat can drop between 0 and 4 Iridium Ore. The odds of all 4 rolls giving ore is 1.125% (.9*.5*.25*.1). 3 ore is 15%, 2 ore 46%, 1 ore 35%, and 0 ore 3%." Raist (talk) 05:56, 18 July 2020 (UTC)

I agree the current format is confusing, but I think the fix should go a step further. I'd prefer to see just the basic game-relevant data in the main table, so in this case, "1-4 Iridium Ore (97%)". The details of the chances for each number of ore are also game-relevant, but less important, so they belong in a footnote. But the rest of the information is raw game data and code mechanics, which doesn't seem relevant.
I've revised the page accordingly, applying the same changes to Bat Wings as well as Iridium Ore. Any suggestions/feedback? I'd like to update the other monster pages similarly once the details are finalized. Nebulous Maestress (talk) 05:37, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
My suggestions: The "References" listed on the page should be called "Drop Details" or similar, and an actual reference explaining how the numbers are derived is needed (as simple as possible, but complete). The details can be placed on this talk page, similar to how the cave talk page elaborates on spawn chances, but they should appear soemwhere. I'd prefer a long explanation on a talk page to a paragraph-long reference on the actual page, myself. Maybe the monsters talk page would be a better place, if you plan to re-do all the monsters' pages.
I'm thinking (1) mention the relevant code/data file and (2) give at least one example calculation, fully from a to z. Then you can reference that page easily from any monsters' page (e.g., "for full calculations, see the monsters talk page"). margotbean (talk) 18:09, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! I'm working on putting together some centralized text describing Monster Drops that would contain general information about the mechanics. I'll see how the writeup comes together and whether there are details that would be better to flesh out on a talk page. I like the idea of a Drop Details section. I'm looking into good ways to handle footnotes differently from references (in anticipation of pages such as Metal Head). Nebulous Maestress (talk) 21:41, 30 October 2020 (UTC)

Red Iridium Bats

Red Iridium Bats found at 900+.
Hi, has anyone been to 900+ floors in Skull Cavern? Once I made a challenge of 1,000 floors in a day and accidentally discovered a new species, the red Iridium Bat! It is faster than ordinary Iridium Bats and has higher damage. I don't know its specific data so I am unable to add it to the pages. Does anyone have a way? :) Reiki (talk) 06:04, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
It's currently listed under bugs though I'm not sure if it really is a bug since it seems rather intentional in the code? They start appearing after level 880 specifically, or level 1000 in the code since it includes levels from the normal mines so the skull cavern starts at "level 121". Daiby (talk) 17:43, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
I posted details under skull cavern talk page. Definitely intentional. BlaDe (talk) 19:57, 24 August 2020 (UTC)
